Winter Concert 2009
Mark your calendars now so you won't miss the always-entertaining Happendance Professional Company in this year's Winter Concert. The Winter Concert this year will further explore themes of life in Lansing in honor of the city's sesquicentennial.
Congratulations to Cosmo Award Winners!
This year's Cosmo Award winners are Liz Hubert and Heather Glidden. The Cosmo Award is given every year to two individuals to recognize their service to Happendance.
Liz is, in the words of Diane Newman, an "amazing costumer" who has volunteered costume efforts for Happendance many times in the past. Most recently she created the costumes for the Happendance tribute to Isadora Duncan, performed at the Detroit Institute for Arts. Photos of Liz's beautiful creations can be viewed in our photo gallery. These were not simple costumes and, because there was no prototype for a male Duncan costume, she had to create one for Matt. She works full time but squeezed it in "because it's Happendance!"
Heather Glidden is...well, I am Heather Glidden. I have been maintaining this website since I joined the Happendance board nearly four years ago. I am very honored to accept the Cosmo award this year and look forward to many more great years with Happendance!
Happendance Receives 2008 Best of Okemos Award!
Happendance School & Professional Dance Company has been selected for the 2008 Best of Okemos Award in the Dance Companies category by the U.S. Local Business Association (USLBA).
The USLBA "Best of Local Business" Award Program recognizes outstanding local businesses throughout the country. Each year, the USLBA identifies companies that they believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and community.
Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2008 USLBA Award Program focused on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the USLBA and data provided by third parties.
Our mission: To stimulate support for the art of dance through performances and educational programs. To broaden the accessibility of dance to a diverse community and promote dance for lifelong physical and mental fitness.
